Academic and Career Goals

Exercise science is the study of movement and the associated functional responses and adaptations. I choose this major because I have an interested in helping people regain their strength and help them. I choose IU Indianapolis to study my undergraduate degree in exercise science because of how many opportunities they offered from being a school so close to the city.

During my time at IU Indianapolis, I plan to complete a minor in dance and two certificates of personal training and nutrition. After I get my Bachelors degree, I hope to go to graduate school to get my masters in physical therapy. At first, my career focus was athletic training, but now I'm more interested in physical therapy. I hope to get an internship either at the School of Health and Human Sciences or for a physical therapy office that resides in Indianapolis.

After I get all of my required academics, I hope to become apart of a professional company or dance company. I specifically choose physical therapy with a sports medicine focus because I've always wanted to help athletes back to their original strength as quick as possible. After getting injured and having to be in physical therapy, I really got to see and open my eyes on how my physical therapists and sports medicine doctors work and how they make a plan specially for you and your situations.
